Szili last Thursday opened the construction of the HUF 226.1 billion (EUR 880
million) sections of the M6 motorway and the M60 road near Pécs, southern
of road from Székszard to Pécs will be constructed under
Szúcs, the head of the Ministry of Economy and Transport’s infrastructure
department. The project, which will include nine bridges and four tunnels – one
of which was inaugurated at the ceremony – is being carried out by Mecsek
Autópálya Koncessziós Zrt, which will operate the motorway under a 30-year
concession. Strabag is among the contractors for the project.

and Szili performed a ceremony at the erection a statue of Saint Barbara, the
patron of tunnel drivers and miners. According to tradition, contracting
companies and contributors before the start of the works, always ask for her
help to protect the tunnel and those working in it.
