Weather forecast for Thursday

Budapest, April 30 (MTI) – Overcast skies alternating with sunny
periods. Sporadic rain are showers are likely mostly in the
afternoon. Winds will be from the south, south-west and stronger
gusts are possible during showers. Overnight lows should range from 6 to 11 degrees Celsius, and
daytime highs will be between 18 and 23 degrees Celsius, the

450 Hungarians to attend March of the Living to Auschwitz

Metro project fingered for pulling the plug on lake

Budapest’s much-maligned
M4 metro project is being blamed for a mysterious lowering of the water level
in a popular Budapest oasis. The Bottomless Lake (Feneketlen tó) in District XI
dropped by a metre over the winter, prompting fears that it is being affected
by ongoing excavation of Budapest’s fourth metro line, which runs through the

Slovak PM offers financial aid to Slovak minority in Hungarian village

Hungarian press free, slight pro-governmental bias, says Freedom House

While most media seem to operate
freely in Hungary and a wide selection of competitive media outlets
generally operate without interference from the state, media
advocates note a slight pro-governmental bias in most state-owned
media, the non-profit human rights organisation Freedom House said
in its annual report on global press freedom released in Washington
