Former MNB head draws attention to spiralling national debt

Public discourse on Hungary’s economic woes has so far
concentrated on the infamous budget deficit, rising inflation and poor economic
growth. Last Tuesday the spotlight turned on the huge national debt, as Finance
Minister János Veres announced that the cost of servicing that debt is set to
jump an estimated HUF 30 billion (EUR 116.10 million) this year. The increase
