The final February deficit came in at 215.9 billion forints
compared to earlier expectations of 219.8 billion, he said.
In the first quarter, the shortfall is expected to be 526.6
billion forints compared to the original estimate of 569.1 billion.
Veres said he maintained the ministry’s target for a gap of
1,099.6 billion forints — 4 percent of gross domestic product —
for the full year of 2008.
