Hungary’s Tibet Support Association,
a support group for Tibetan human rights, has asked the chairman of
the Hungarian Olympic Committee Pal Schmitt to join an initiative to
put pressure on China by boycotting the summer Olympic Games in
Beijing, the group told MTI on Monday.
The support group has already sent a letter to the International
Olympic Committee asking it to protest the violence in Tibet by
boycotting the Games.
The group noted that China had won the right to organise the
Games this year on condition that it advances its human rights
standards for the whole country, including Tibet.
