Euro-Atlantic integration is key to security and development in the West Balkans, but applicants should meet the entry criteria defined by the European Union or NATO, the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry quoted Goncz in a statement sent to MTI.
Hungary hopes that a visit by Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha to Budapest scheduled for the beginning of March will boost bilateral relations.
Albania awaits Hungarian investors, Bregu told MTI, adding that it was primarily the energy and financial sectors as well as tourism that offered good opportunities.
On the subject of Kosovo, Bregu said that there was no chance for unification between Albania and Kosovo, not even in the distant future. Kosovo must become independent, and Albania will strive for good neighbourly relations, the minister said.
