Weather forecast for Sunday

Budapest, December 8 (MTI) – The heavy cloud cover will
temporarily thin out, particularly in the west, leading to short
periods of sunshine. Isolated showers are still possible in the south and east.
Overnight fog should be expected, mainly in the west, where it will
last well into the day. Breezes will be from the south and fresh to strong, with
stronger gusts in the northwest. Nighttime lows should range from -1 to +4 degrees Celsius, and
daytime highs will be between +2 and +7 degrees Celsius, the

No official word from Sweden on plane purchase graft probe, says gov’t spokesman

Budapest, December 8 (MTI) – Sweden has not notified Hungary
officially that it plans to expand its investigation of possible
graft connected to Hungary’s leasing of 14 Swedish-made Gripen
fighter planes, government spokesman David Daroczi said on Saturday,

Coordinated police action yields 12 fugitives, plenty of rule-breaking drivers

around the NE city of Nyiregyhaza early on Saturday resulted in the
apprehension of twelve people wanted for various reasons, and 156

Sugar beets on road stop traffic

Budapest, December 8 (MTI) – A trailer truck filled with sugar
beets overturned on Route 3, near Miskolc, NE Hungary, on Saturday,
right near the parallel motorway exist, effectively closing the exit
to traffic as the sugar beets rolled about. No one was hurt.    Police say the truck was exiting the motorway and travelling
down the off-ramp when it tipped and overturned into a ditch,
spilling the beets. Disaster management staff has begun “harvesting” the beets from

Central bank keeps base rate on hold with majority vote

Budapest, December 8 (MTI) – The Monetary Council of the
National Bank of Hungary voted 9 to 3 to leave the bank’s base rate
unchanged at 7.50 percent at a rate-setting meeting on November 26,

Hearing impaired demand visibility with demonstration in front of parliament

deafness or hearing impairments gathered on the banks of the river
