Yes, it is. Durex is the world’s
largest condom maker, and it has found an effective way to both test its
products and create a considerable marketing buzz. 
The Durex Condom Testing
Challenge in France
held earlier this year brought in an incredible 14,000 applicants on its first
day. The goal was to find a panel of about 5,000 official testers who would
post their sexual experiences online and to describe, of course, how Durex
products helped them to have better sex.
When this same Durex Challenge
was brought to the U.K.
in March of this year, the British became determined to not let the French show
more support for condom testing. In a shameless play on words, the British rose
to challenge and the contest received more than 16,000 applicants on its first
day.
Why would so many want to participate in
the Durex Condom Testing Challenge? It is not the money, as only one out of
5,000 can win a $1,000 cash prize. It is probably not the free product, since
condoms are not that expensive. The real motivation is the ability to tell the
world that you were an official Durex condom tester. The bottom line is that
being a condom tester offers a significant level of street credibility to
swinging singles. It also looks quite nice in bold letters on your CV.
